Poetry: “Experiments in Drowning” by Erin Little

Experiments in Drowning

Wet city easy city wet
with sick with brackish

water wet on the pointer
finger and thumb to open

a Rouse’s produce bag
wet with sweat on the wrist

where the bags hang
wet with drink through

the night and morning bars
still open at five come inside

easy wet with belief
what has been will keep so

so easy to get lost in all that water
but harder to find footing to find

bottom to keep up with the flood
as it rises see it’s already at our necks.
