Food and Beverage: “Deluxe” by Megan Alyse

Deluxe

After truly superb dates with her,
              I’ve taken to going through

the Drive Thru where there’s something
supremely powerful, yes, I said powerful

in ordering a large deluxe combo meal
in a white fur coat, pencil skirt, panties off,

especially if it’s not quite morning
and not quite cold out, and I’m not

all that sober. It’s hot to choose a girlfriend
one day, then a husband the next,

an egg sandwich and nuggets or Big Mac,
McFlurry, all at once—I say yes

to every bit of it supreme, super, and large
nothing dressed down, dollar, or small.

It’s salt and pleasure, at the end of it, before
              the daylight, that I want.
