Hybrid: “A Taste of Honey” by Joel Sedano
A Taste of Honey1
Euclidean space, vacuous as molecules lost within a body of molasses; only a few drops able to permeate the void; gelatinous in its compounds of sugar and unctuous conglomerates, sheen as asterisms amidst interstellar clouds of caramel and cacao; hexagonal with its sides counting down the days spent in its creation, a mythos dreamt between the moments left from stargazing; wound tightly like bubble wrap, deflated from its previous life; sedimented within a gold rush, unlike the one that washed ashore in the Sierra; manufactured as distillations of minerals, amalgamates in a vortex of alloys breaking the latticed molding; “how doth the little busy bee” improve multiverses as invader and reciprocator. The parameters, sealed within a glass concaved by machinations that rose from the pride of men, stuck like the Culex in a mad scientist’s experiment gone awry, an amber-tinted simple monosaccharide coalesced from the works of Rimsky-Korsakov’s muse; codes of C6H12O6 2 are decrypted and stored into waxy jars; addictive in their use as double-entendres tongue-twisted on the lips of others; ethics regurgitate enzymes from sepals of morality clustered in a hierarchical complex.
1 The visual poetry was created by me inspired by an article that stated bees’ flight patterns are based on spatial-memory mapping.
2 Chemical composition for fructose and glucose. Bees have an enzyme called invertase that they salivate that turns disaccharide (sucrose) into monosaccharide (fructose and glucose).
